Websites exists for the further research on figuring out what is and is not steampunk. Fans of this genre have come together and created many wonderful guides on the topic. There are several websites for the purchase of steampunk merchandise and Pinterest.com proliferates with ideas on how to make your own costumes, accessories and stylish-looking faux weapons. These websites place emphasis on not just the literature and media that is inspired by this genre but also the fun that could be have between fans. This genre, above all others, is ripe for costume play (cosplay). What strikes me most about steampunk is that there is so much creativity that springs from it. Steampunk encourages you to think of technology in a different way. You may be the next Elon Musk! Making technology a dream of what could be rather than what is is part of the allure of steampunk (Miller, 2011).
